Hello All! When you get ART&.. More on Playdate Catalog, you can read a number of 'books' on the top floor of the gallery which showcase a variety of game concepts I've had floating about. Little did I know in writing those up that Dog kNOwSE in particular would come out so soon!

I was hoping to get something put together for PLAYJAM 3 hosted by PossiblyAxolotl, and when the theme of the jam was revealed to be "Just Out of Sight" I knew it was time for Dog to shine. Dog kNOwSE is a futurepunk cyber-noir where at least Most of the inhabitants of the world are anthropomorphized animals. 

With the progression over the next hundred years of media into larger and larger data sets, I felt it's only natural to pull in more and more sensory data in order to feed the populace's constant addiction to stimuli. These are Full Emotional Experiences (FEXs aka Synthses). In that overload of data it would take a Hard-Nosed Detective to not lose themselves OR the clues hidden in the cloud of the experience. 

The core mechanic of Dog kNOwSE is clearing the fog of a scene, which was perfect for the Playjam theme and for the Playdate itself. My partner Robyn and I were able to pull together Chapter 1: The Dame in an incredibly short amount of time and pretty much off the cuff. There is a nice arc to the story however and Chapter 1 leaves Dog hanging in the balance between life and death. It's an exciting place to be!

Right now, I have ideas for where the story can go. When you play Chapter 1, I think you'll get a pretty good idea of the writing and themes. I don't have a specific timeline for the further chapters and I may even develop them a bit more out in the open. I will say, this was an idea that I liked a lot from the get-go, and I'm very thankful for the chance to put something out to kick it off. I have a number of projects on my plate but Dog kNOwSE has certainly risen up in prominence.

Ver 1.2  is fully debugged and polished up. The fog mechanic has been rejiggered to work much better on Playdate hardware. I've also added icons to show when you should be using the Dpad to advance the story or open the menu etc. The chapter is pretty short overall, so please enjoy and reach out if you have ideas or love for Dog!
